The U.S. Prison System
Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:
90% of students will be able to state the differences and similarities with different prison systems from around the world as well as know the pros and cons to these various systems.
Students will behaviorally analyze four different inmates from Wabash Correctional SuperMax Facility.

Psychiatric Disorder; organized killer; disorganized killer; prison; inmate
Task #1 – Today will be primarily spent analyzing and discussing the four inmates known as Chris Trotter, Miles Folsom, Lukuman, and Stone. We will be analyzing their behavior from video clips and from newspaper articles that have featured these inmates. The data that we collect from today will be organized into a different style behavioral data chart from the one we used for Norman Bates. Tomorrow we will be doing a write up on one of the four inmates. You will get to choose which inmate you want to do a write up on.
Don’t forget tomorrow you have a five paragraph essay due! Take your Norman Bates behavioral notes and use the evidence you have gathered to do your essay remember to use the format below when writing.
Paragraph 1 – Introduction to topic and what you are going to be writing about.
Paragraph 2 – Which of the seven key theories on why we commit crime do you think best explains his behavior? Why? What evidence can you cite to back up your opinion?
Paragraph 3 – Do you believe Norman to be a organized or disorganized killer? Why? What evidence can you cite to back up your opinion?
Paragraph 4 – What mental disorder do you think Norman Bates is suffering from? why? What evidecne can you cite to back up your opinion?
Paragraph 5 – Wrap it all up with telling us why analyzing behavior is so important. Don’t just repeat everything you have said in your essay.
