Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:
In this unit students will develop and use models in addition to using mathematics and computational thinking. Specifically in the field of Patterns, Energy and Matter, and Types of Chemical Interactions. The goal is for a student average of 85%.
Students will be able to better explain the following by the end of the lesson today:
- Structure and Properties of Matter
- Chemical Reactions
- Types of Interaction
- Learn from mistakes
- Personal electronics only when appropriate

Task #1: Kazem “Kaz” Pourghafari Case Review & Cornell Note completion
Template – > Cornell Notes (V2)
We are going to look over a case on a man named Kazem “Kaz” Pourghafari. This man may or may not be involved in the death of a woman named Amanda Alley. Once we have gathered enough evidence on Kaz, in the summary portion of our Cornell notes you will decide, based on evidence, if you believe he was or was not involved.
Task #2: Mock Trial Practice
I don’t want to make the mistake of assuming we all know basic trial procedure or argument. We are going to run through a basic mock trial case first. We should be done with this Wednesday.

Once teams for prosecution and defense have been formed, ONE member of each side will download this template to their google and share it to their team members. We will go through this form together. Make sure to share your forms with ChristopherTyler@oflschools.org

I am going to hand out Physical Science Unit 4 along with more Cornell Note paper if you need it. Take it home and over the course of this week I want you to read through it and develop your cornell notes. We are going to use this unit to conduct the trial of Kazeem ourselves.
– Clean Up / Reorganize classroom (Start at 11:50)
- Get any past units caught up ! Do not let your work snowball!
- Start doing your Cornell Notes and reading for Unit 4.
