Physical Science B SGI Lesson #2 (1-11-2018)

Introduction to Physical Science B!

Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Students will attain an 80% passage rate in 3 of 4 trials

How Physics relates to the world around us.

Life Connection:

Students will answer this question before leaving class today.

Behavioral Norms:

  • Learn from mistakes
  • Tolerance
  • Participate
  • Personal electronics only when appropriate

Key Concepts:

Patterns, Cause and Effect, System and System Models

Warm Up:

When you come in today you will see the word “Physics” written on the board”. This time written vertically! The goal in this warm up is to write a  science related word for each letter in Physics. The winner is the person who uses the most letters.

Example: Students doing the same thing, but with the word “Winter” instead.

Student#1 (used 37 letters) Winner!

Student #2 (used 35 letters)

OUR Warm Up Winner!!

Congrats K’zari! Our winner of a McDonald’s gift card!!

Task #1 – (Review)

Prompt: How do you think physics relates to your world? What do you think the job of a physicist includes?

Information to Consider:

Task #2 – (Review)

Sir Issac Newton!

Pg. 12 (Problem #1)

Pg. 16 (Problems 1-4)

Ticket Out the Door:

Sticky note questions

#1 – What is the number one thing you learned today?

#2 – What was the most confusing thing you did today?

Review what we went over today and rediscover your physical science books.

Next Generation Science Standards:

HS-PS 21 Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and it acceleration.
