Task #1

Turn in your homework from yesterday (Exercise – Chemical Article with Analysis Sheet). Put your homework in the Ticket Out the Door box..

Task #2

Sit in the teams that you chose as your permanent trial teams.

Task #3

Next the hat will come around to determine which teams will receive which cases and sides to each trial.

Task #4

This pre-trial prep will be different than our usual. In an effort to save more trees we are going to go full digital. Depending on the case you get download the appropriate file below. These files are in docx format. This means you need to download the file, open it, click on the blue “share” button, then click on “Save as Google Doc”. Once you have the file saved in Google doc format change the title to the following format “Period # – Your Name – Case – Side -Role”. Share it to MrTylersLessons@gmail.com

Case #1 – kahnvkahn

Case #2 – walkervbrewster

Task #5

Now the first thing you need to do as a team is to go through the document and highlight important information to your case.

Task #6

Once you have gone through your document each team will share out a brief statement about their case and what their side will be arguing for.

Task #7

Next, as a team, you need to decide who will fulfill what roll. Chose which person on the team will fill out the role sheet. Once you have decided let me know and I will e-mail an invitation to edit to that person. Only one person per team will type in who is fulfilling what role into the sign up sheet that is visible below.

Task #8

Now that each team has done their initial study of their cases and signed up for their roles each student needs to go through their personal copy of the case materials and prepare for their role for trial. The roles and assignments, depending on roles, are listed below.

Attorney in Charge of Opening Argument: You need to review the case and at the end of your case file write your opening argument.

Witness: Go through your witness statement. Underline the most important aspects of your statement. Then you need to work on memorizing your statement.

Attorney for a Witness: You need to analyze your witnesses statement and know it inside and out. Make notes on the side of the case Google doc as to important questions to ask the witness.

Attorney in Charge of Closing Argument: You need to review the case and at the end of your case file write your closing argument.

Attorney in Charge of Redirect / Recross: You need to go through the witness statements of the opposing side and find the flaws in their stories or means to attack the credibility of these witness statements.
