Students will be able to recognize the different correctional methodologies prisons around the world use when attempting to modify inmate behavior and formulate solutions to the weaknesses they identify in each system.

Task #1 (20 minutes)

Once you are completely satisfied with your work download the Google slide template below and follow the directions. You will be screen shooting angles of your prison and putting them into the slides to turn in your work. When you are done save and share your slides with at Lastly, you are welcome to change the template in whatever creative ways you wish, but the information and screen shots must still be present.

Task #2 (40 minutes)

Teacher’s Note – In order better help student identify the specific problems in the U.S. prison system and develop precise solutions to these problems we are going to take a step back and look at how Iran analyzed their prison system and then developed solutions to address their needs.

Step #1 – Download, save, and share -> Cornell Notes – Middle East – Period 3 – Your Name Here

Step #2 – To help us take an objective look at the Middle Eastern Prison Establishment we are first going to look at the video clip: Fluffy Visits Saudi Arabia – Gabriel Iglesias. The Cornell Note Paper will be used for this video clip. Essential Question: What stereotypes do I believe about Middle Eastern Culture?

Step #3 – Once we finish with the video clip we will hold a brief discussion about the reality of life in the Middle East.

Step  #4 – Now we will look at the Iran Prison Organization – Dr. Mohammad Shahbazi presentation.

Task #3  (15 minutes) 

Students will download the Google doc below in their account entitled “Problems in prison-Period 3 – Your Name Here”. In this document students will now create a list of 5 problems they observed with the U.S. prison system, their precedents, and recommend some evidence based real world solutions. This will be followed by developing ideas to solve these issues.
