Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

At the end of this unit students have stated they will understand how structured criminal organizations originated, remain in power, how they are affiliated, strategies they implement, and how dangerous each is. Additionally, students have stated they will have developed the following skills: reading, analysis, observation, and identification. Success will be measured by four specific student developed goal oriented objectives they have designed to measure success culminating in a student developed summative project at the end of this unit.

Today’s Objective:

Students will peer review their work from yesterday is a standardized format as well as practice utilizing prior knowledge to analyze fictional criminal cases

Agenda:

Warm Up –

  1. Explain the difference between passive and active learning.
  2. What is the difference between a “low risk strategy” or a “high risk strategy”?

Task #1 –

You will need a piece of lined notebook paper. Once you have it fold it into three columns. Label the columns in this order “Group #, 1-10 Score, Reasoning”.

Task #2 –

Next up we will be looking over the videos from yesterday and you will be peer reviewing each others work. After we finish peer reviewing we will list what can we do better.

Task #3 –

  1. 1. The difference between passive and active learning is passive is listening to the teacher the whole period and active is interacting in the lecture.

    2. A low risk strategy is when the teacher is in control of the lesson and a high strategy is when the students are in charge of the day’s lesson , the teacher will not know how it will go or how the students will respond.
