Warm Up –

EasternPromisesRussianMafia

On an index card, look at the image above of a recreated scene from life inside the Russian Mafia. List two ways you see that it is similar to La Cosa Nostra and two ways that it is different.

Task #1 –

Pass in your assignments from Thursday (10-22-2015) and Friday (10-23-2015) when the sub was present.

Task #2 –

On the board I want to run through what I expect from you as students and what you can expect from me as a teacher just to make sure we are on the same page. This should be a short 5-10 minute exercise.

Task #3 –

On a piece of lined paper, at the top, answer this question: “What is the purpose of government?” Your response must be 8-9 sentences and evidence must be given to defend your answer.

Task #4 –

Now lets take a look at some notes I found on a history teacher’s website regarding life in Tsarist Russia. We are going to look over these notes only. This is just due to the fact that we need to get a reference for the time period we are talking about.

Task #5 –

Question: How did the Tsarist Russian Government not serve its purpose as a government according to your own definition of 8-9 sentences?

Task #6 –

With a fresh perspective in mind of life in Russia during this time period, I would like you to now answer this question. “What would your opinion be of an outlaw figure (Ex: Robin Hood). Taking basic life materials from the rich and giving them to you? Your response must be 8-9 sentences.

Task #7 –

Underneath your answer to the question posed in Task #5 draw a line. Those were introductory questions to the topic of the Russian Mafia. We are now going to dive into the topic of the Russia Mob as of 2015 to learn how it operates and what its goals are.

Task #8 –

The tickets out the door lately have been getting sloppy and I believe that this is due to the fact some are feeling they do not have enough time to finish the ticket and others are not filling them out correctly. We are going to reserve the last 15 minutes of today’s class to go through how to fill out your ticket out the door card again, what each section means, and why this is important.

Ticket Out the Door –

1.”What level of Webb’s depth of knowledge do you think we primarily worked at today? Why?”

2. On a scale of 0% to 100% did we meet our objective for today? 100% means you believe we absolutely hit the objective.

3. By percentage, how much of today do you feel was “active learning” vs “passive learning”? You answer must total 100%.
