This unit’s SMART goal will be either entirely or partly written by students dependent upon their creativity and writing level. The students developed some ideas yesterday during their work while I was at the PD Center in downtown with Mr. Nelson. I will review your developed material tonight and settle on an answer tomorrow.

Today’s Objective:

Students will assist in developing their next unit of study in their criminal behavior course in addition to gaining the understanding as to why criminal behavior has become so organized by participating in an activity developed for a high school Economics courses.

RH 11-12.9 – Integrate information from diverse sources, both primary and secondary, into a coherent understanding of an idea or event, noting discrepancies among sources.


Warm Up:

Why do you think organized criminal groups are so interested in recruiting juveniles? On the index card given to you list three reasons.

One observation you should have is that these mafias break down into smaller organizations that support them. Why do you think they all work together? Let us borrow an activity from Economics teachers to examine this phenomenon more closely.
