Juvenile Criminal Offenders – Writing the expository essay.

Juvenile Offenders

Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Student’s knowledge level of the U.S. juvenile justice system, in addition to that of other countries will increase by 70% by the end of this unit. Success will be determined by comparing students end of unit assessment results against those given at the beginning of the unit. Previous criminal behavior course grade data indicates student knowledge level of the subject gains at minimum a 60% increase in understanding. Agenda:

Task #1 – Today I have to be with the C.C.H.S. Leadership team in the administration building on campus. While I am gone I want you to work on writing your seven paragraph essays by successfully writing the first three paragraphs on paper. This means successfully writing your introduction to the topic and issues in juvenile justice and arguments for why there needs to be harsher punishments for teens complete with specific evidence in order to get them to stop breaking the law. If you can go further great. Then do the opposite side of the argument for your next two paragraphs. Reasons why teens should be treated with more leniency and only tried as juveniles in court. If you have already begun writing your essay at home start writing it in class so that on Friday when I see you again you will have something to work with. There will be a reward for the class if 80% of the class has their first three paragraphs done. However, the reward will only be for those students who did complete the work. Additionally, since I cannot be with you today this does mean I will be pushing the due date for the essay back till Monday (9-28-2015)

Homework:

1- ( Due Monday 9-28-2015) Seven paragraph expository essay on the juvenile justice system. In an expository essay your goal is to, in this order, 1. Investigate 2.Evaluate 3. Expound and finally 4.
