Review the Serial Killer Behavioral Analysis Grid

Unit:

Serial Killers

Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Students will be able to behaviorally analyze a killer without teacher’s assistance with 80% accuracy in 4 of 5 trials.

Today’s Objective:

Students will be breaking down their Serial Killer Behavioral Analysis Grid today. The primary goal of this is for them to see that even though they all evaluted these individuals differently their analysis, as long as backed up by evidence, is still credible. Additionally, students will analyze a TED Talks six minute speech to see what he did well and failed to do in order to successfully deliver information about  analyzing serial killers in six minutes.

Behavioral Norms (Student Developed):

Agenda:

Task #1 – Quick Quiz – What is a “comfort killer”? What gender are they primarly? why?

Task #2 – Break into groups of four. You will be given a behavioral analysis grid like the one you received on Friday. As a group run through the list of four killers again and agree as a group on the percentage of each type of mentality for each killer.

Task #3 – Lets go through the groups responses to see what some commonalities are.

Task #4 – I want to go through the instructions for the project for the serial killer project with you officially now. Last we I answer some questions because several of you wanted to get started.

Task #4 – Go ahead and get out a piece of paper and set it up like the paper below. We are going to be watching a TED talks lecture on how to psychological analyze a serial killer and how they come into existence. While you are watching I want you to note what are the good things about his speech and what are the bad? We will have a discussion about this after we are done watching the clip.

Homework:

Serial Killer/ Mass Murderer Project – Several students asked for the instructions for the unit project so that they could begin. I have attached them to the lesson plan today for those of you who want to start early. This project is due 4-17-2015. In case you have forgotten who you chose the sign up sheet is scanned and attached below.
