Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Students will be able to examine the changing patterns of immigration from the 19th through the 20th centuries,  consider the challenges and contributions of immigrants, and analyze the “push” and “pull” influences of immigration (i.e. economic factors, advertising, political oppression, belief in social mobility) to 80% in 3 of 4 trials.

Today’s Objective:

Students will gain basic understanding of corporate structure, mergers, and banking and demonstrate knowledge through classroom activity.

Behavioral Norms (Student Developed):

Task #1 – We will be doing the Stock debrief questions from yesterday since we were not able to get to them.

1 – What strategies did some groups use to invest?

2 – What strategies were successful? Which were not?

3 – Overall what strategy did your group use? How profitable were you?

4 – What behaviors did you notice the stock prices followed?

5 – How would you improve this simulation?

Task #2 – Vanderbuilt Review – “On a piece of paper list everything you remember about Vanderbuilt from the last time we talked about him”

Task #3 – Now we will look at basic corporate structure.

Task #4 – Followed by activity on how corporations (past and present) used to merge in either vertical or horizontal form.

Task #5 – After the activity we do together you will be filling out the same chart with your own example.

Task #6 – Introductory activity into the basics of banking.
