Unit S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Students will be able to identify and distinguish the differences between the origins, businesses, terminology, and mentalities of the following organized crime organizations: Russian Mafia, Yakuza, Mexican Cartel, and La Cosa Nostra in 3 of 4 formative assessment trials with 80% accuracy.

Today’s Objective:

Students will analyzing the American Mafia known as La Cosa Nostra. Students will be specifically looking at structure, history, and their income sources.

Task #3 – Yesterday we saw a story from a man that started working for the Mafia (La Cosa Nostra) at the age of 15 and got to learn a lot about the Mafia. Specifically the way they recruit, live, and operate. Today we wil we be looking at Los Zetas. This is a powerful Mexican Drug Cartel. We will comparing and contrasting the way they operate and recruit against how Cosa Nostra does it today. To begin with we will be looking at a documentary on a boy who started working for Los Zetas at the age of 15.  While we are watching the film you will be taking Cornell Notes to address the question. “What are the similiarties and differences between  Cosa Nostra and Los Zetas.
