Teacher’s Note –
I have been asked to meet with representatives from Catapult Learning today to review their curriculum ideas for implementation at our high school. I will be back tomorrow. While I am gone I want you practicing your ability to diagnose a psychiatric disorder. I have left each group a copy of 15 mood disorder case studies. I want you to check your understanding of psychological disorders by reading the information on the following cases, and stating the most appropriate diagnosis for each person. Explain the rationale for each of your diagnoses. Some of these cases may not have disorders. If that is the case explain why you don’t believe the person is suffering from a mood disorder. There is only one packet of these disorder case studies per group. The reason for this is because I want you to read the disorder out loud to each other, discuss which disorder you believe the person is suffering from using your notes, and then write down which disorder you believe they have and why you believe they have it. There is a digital copy of these case studies available for download below as well. When you are finished with your assignment I want the substitute to sign their name to it on the top left corner. This will prove to me you finished your assignment during class time. You only have class time to finish this assignment. I will collect it from you when I see you again on Wednesday (1-21-2015).
