CyberCrime

S.M.A.R.T. Goal:

Students will gain introductory level knowledge to the topic of Cyber Crime with particular emphisis on Hacking. Students will gather information on this topic and then write an evidence based personal opinion style essay on their perspective on hacking. Success will be measured by the use of academic language correctly within the essay.

Vocabulary:

Agenda:

Task #1 – Introductory Question “In your own words, how would you define the term Cyber Crime?”

Results:

– “Illegal activity that happens online” – Kimlee C.

– “Cyber Crime is like when people rob, harass, identity theft, or deliberatly attack someone through a computer” – Irvin J.

Task #2 – On the back side of your index card list as many Cyber Crimes and Threats as you can.

Results:

– Identity theft

– Illegally downloading movies, music, programs.

– Sending viruses

– Hacking someone system

-Scamming

Task #3 – Introductory video on the dangers of the internet.

Task #4 – Question “Have you ever had to personally deal with any of these issues? How did you feel about having to deal with these issues?”

Task #5 – According to the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States we are guaranteed Freedom of Speech. This allows people to post training videos on how to commit CyberCrime on sources like YouTube. Now that you are aware of the dangers online do you still believe that people should be allowed to share these videos?

Task #6 – Question “Have you ever heard of the online group Anonymous?”

Task #7 – Introductory video to the group Anonymous

Task #8 – Written question response – “Anonymous sees themselves as Hacktivists and law enforcement sees them as Cyber Criminals. After seeing the information on them from today, what is your belief about this group? Are they criminals? or people trying to bring awareness to problems?”
