Criminal Behavior HeaderSubstitute Instructions:

Step 1 – Have students get out a piece of notebook paper. If they do not have any there is some on top of the book case in the front of the room if they need it.

Step 2 – They will title their paper “Organized Crime: How it probably began”

Step 3 – Tell students that they learned about the Seven key Theories on why people commit crime and that their cheat sheets are still on all four walls of the classroom if they need a reminder as to what the Seven Key Theories are.

Step 4 – Students will be doing a writing assignment today. The writing assignment will be in a five paragraph essay format. This time I will be grading for spelling and punctuation as well.

Step 5 – Here is a list of questions that they need to address in their writing:

1 – Why do you think organized crime began? What evidence is there to support your opinion?

2 – Why do you think the Mexican Cartels began? What evidence is there to support your opinion?

3 – Why do you think the Chinese Mafia began? What evidence is there to support your opinion?

4 – Compare and contrast what you know so far about the Mexican Cartels and the Chinese Mafia. How are they alike? How are they different? What evidence is there to support your opinion?

5 – What is it about human society that makes people want to band together? What evidence is there to support your opinion?

6 – What are some things about human society that you think should be changed in order to reduce people’s desire to band together for organized crime? What evidence is there to support your opinion?
