TEACHING AGENDA –

Class began today with a quiz to check to see how many of the mafia organizations we looked at last week they could remember. Following this students we asked the question ” What is the difference betweena organized crime and a gang?”. We took several minutes as a class to discuss the differences between the two terms. Then students were given a sneak peek at the other organizations we are going to be looking at during the organized crime unit.

Today the organization we looked at was the Triads. This is a criminal organization out of China. Students were shown a brief clip of how they began back during the Boxer Rebellion. Then they were shown some video clips of how the organization began to grow in San Francisco. The activity for the day was getting familiar with organization and then seeing how it compared to the Russian Mafia and the Yakuza. Lastly students were asked to rank the different mafias they learned about in order of which one they felt was the most dangerous to the least dangerous.

HOMEWORK – Review the basic differences between the different mafia groups we have studied so far.
