The Cost of Living and the Poverty Issue

TEACHING OBJECTIVE –

Students will understand through activity that 40% of crime in our country could be prevented by lowering the dropout rate. Students will see that the dropout issue affects them even if they are on track to lead a good life.

TEACHING AGENDA –

Step 1 – Looking at the cost of living

Step 2 – Use the game links to look at the odds of living the life we want.

Step 3 – How the poverty issue goes far back in time and how it affects everyday people who don’t believe it has anything to do with them.

Criminal Behavior Antecedent

TEACHING OBJECTIVE –

Students will analyze the high school drop out issue and develop solutions to the problem.

TEACHING AGENDA –

We are going to continue our work from yesterday due to the fact we didn’t develop enough plausible successful solutions to the dropout problems. Remember! If we can lower the dropout rate even just 10% that would result in 3,000 less murders per year and 175,000 less assaults !! Additionally, don’t forget someone who fails to complete high school is 8X more likely to end up in court and/or in jail/prison.
